Thanos (Earth-42180)

Born on the moon Titan, Thanos is an Eternal, a race of humans given great power by Celestial experiments. Thanos had a rare genetic disability called Deviants syndrome, which makes his skin take on the appearance of the other human subspecies created by the Celestials called the Deviants.

Due to this, Thanos was somewhat ostracized during his childhood. Despite this, he proved to be a prodigy among the scientific community and brought the Titan Eternal's understanding of the universe and all within it to new heights.

As he grew, Thanos became increasingly obsessed with the condition of life and death, slowly coming to the conclusion that life should exist as minimally as possible, and it was currently far past the threshold he considered reasonable. Thanos considered minimal life the only rational way of the universe, and made his thoughts on ways to correct the matter known.

His pondering was considered only for the briefest of moments by his fellow Eternals, who rejected him and stated his work the product of a madman.

Wounded by their rejection after all he had given them, and after having lost the respect and admiration of their society he worked so hard to achieve, Thanos truly snapped and decided to force his beliefs to become reality.

Taking it upon himself to correct what he viewed as a mistake in the making, Thanos began to wage war against the life of the cosmos shortly after he turned one hundred years old. His fellow Titanian Eternals were wiped out by Thanos shortly into his crusade.

Powers and Abilities

Powers

Thanos is an Eternal, a subspecies given cosmic powers by the Celestials. As such he has inherent power greater than most super-humans and aliens. The Abstract Entity, Death, later augmented his powers beyond what his species can achieve.

Eternal Physiology/Death Augmented Eternal Physiology: All of Thanos' great abilities come from the cosmic energy endowed upon his race by the Celestials, which allows him greater strength than any of Earth's mightiest heroes. He was later given augmented powers by the Abstract Entity, Death, placing him on a level similar to most gods throughout the universe.
- Nigh-Invulnerability: Thanos can withstand staggering amounts of damage, taking contemporary human weapons fire without noticing and easily enduring attacks from Super-humans such as Spider-Man. Physical assaults from World Breaker Hulk were only able to bruise Thanos. None of Earth's heroes were strong enough individually to truly injure Thanos. After being augmented by Death, Thanos could withstand a cosmic blast from a Celestial with greater ease than most deities.
- Super Strength: Thanos, as an Eternal, inherently has a great deal of physical strength. He is strong enough to overwhelm World Breaker Hulk and Sentry at his most powerful, even breaking their limbs. With Death's augmentation, Thanos was far stronger, able to easily overpower World Breaker Hulk with little effort and challenge Gods of Strength on even footing. Thanos' great strength extends to his legs, allowing him to leap vast distances.
- Super Speed/Reflexes/Agility: Thanos is astoundingly fast and possesses hyper-accurate reflexes, capable of catching Quicksilver, a mutant faster than anyone else on Earth. He also possesses agility on levels average for an Eternal, giving agility, balance, and bodily coordination beyond the limits of humans. After being enhanced by Death, Thanos' natural agility, speed, and reflexes were augmented far beyond their usual limits.
- Superhuman Stamina: As an Eternal, Thanos can continue intense activity for around 36 hours. After being augmented by Death he can now act continuously for roughly three weeks without rest.
- Heightened Senses: Thanos' sense of hearing, smell, and sight are far superior to that of most species. He can further augment these senses with his cosmic powers, granting him the capacity to see with telescopic, microscopic, and even an x-ray analogous vision. Death's granted power did not notably enhance his senses.
- Longevity: As an Eternal, Thanos has a long lifespan compared to humans. He is three hundred years old, and an Eternal lifespan is around 700 years. After being augmented by Death, Thanos' lifespan has been extended by an unknown degree.
Cosmic Energy Manipulation: The Eternals were endowed with great quantities of cosmic energy by the Celestials, and can manipulate this energy for a variety of effects that would otherwise be unavailable to them. His abilities were increased by Death, granting him energy projection abilities on par with most average deities.
- Energy Emission: Channeling his energy through his eyes or hands, Thanos can unleash powerful bolts and limited constructs of cosmic power such as crude barriers of immense durability. His bolts are incredible destructive, and able to burst through almost any material on Earth essentially unhindered barring Vibranium and Adamantium. Iron Man's most advanced suits can withstand Thanos' energy blasts for a short period of time without damage. He can overwhelm the energy blasts of Sentry and Iron Man's repulsor rays. His cosmic powers were augmented by Death.
- Flight: While not regularly using his energy in this way, Thanos can achieve flight under his own power. He is not able to achieve speeds greater than mach 3, even after being augmented by Death.

Abilities

Super-Genius Intelligence: Thanos is one of the greatest minds in the universe, with an intellect far beyond anyone on Earth.
Skilled Unarmored Combatant: Thanos is a highly capable fighter with three hundred years of experience and training.

Strength level

Class 100+: Thanos is somewhat stronger than World-Breaker Hulk, and after being augmented by Death he can match some Gods of Strength
