History

Origin

The Next Avengers were the sons and daughters of the first generation of Avengers from the alternate future reality of Earth-61616— the Dark Age Universe—who were born between the late 2000s and early 2010s, the reality when Ultron managed to successfully dominate the entire world and eradicate most of its life through the events of the Ultron Revolution in the span of a decade.

During the ensuing conflict, these youngsters were only S.H.I.E.L.D. trainees, trained under the influences of their parents, who were also caught in risking their lives trying to prevent Ultron from eradicating all life, with some who were unfortunately killed fighting off the machine's forces. However, the war that lasted for a decade didn't last much longer, and after the sacrifices of many heroes and villains and with the assistance and help of these trainees, Ultron was finally defeated, marking a huge victory for all life on Earth.

Despite the fact that the war was finally over, most heroes, including the trainees, weren't over with their duties and obligations on cleaning up the streets and cities from crime as it rises. As a result, most of the trainees decided to form into a one team in order to help each other out when it comes to taking down threats, not even one hero could've handle.

Later on, the Next Avengers even participated in joining the Resistance during the tyrannical reign of Tony Stark's own son, Edward Stark and his totalitarian New World Order, with each and every surviving hero helping one another into figuring out a way to end the Empire, once and for all. In the end, the Resistance were victorious, ending another terror caused by one of Earth's greatest minds, and with the it, peace and liberty was restored throughout the rest of the entire world, for now, thanks to the help of these heroes.

Secret Wars

However, as the peace and liberty that was restored upon this reality continues for a long while, unbeknownst to all of them, it wouldn't last. Following the beginning phenomenas of the multiversal event known as Secret Wars, all the heroes knew that they would be in great peril. During the start of the event known as the incursion points, the Earth of this reality had itself about to collided with another Earth, from another reality.

Sadly, both inhabitants from both Earths had only two choices: to watch in horror, as both of their worlds collide or to force themselves into battling out the inhabitants of the other Earth and even try to destroy it, in order to save theirs. However, as the battle goes on for the sake of defending their reality, they were too late. The incursions already commenced, and both planets collided, killing most of inhabitants.

Nevertheless, some inhabitants managed to successfully escape their Earths through a large space vessel, in which led them towards the formation of Battleworld, a realm that were created by the destroyers of the universe who were the creators themselves, the Beyonders. Unluckily, only a few several residents from each and every reality were able to survive the journey to Battleworld, and sad to say, only a few members from the Next Avengers has made through it, until the very end.

As a repayment to Ben Richard Parker, who was the Scarlet Spider of Earth-61616, and the rest of the heroes' help, when the prime native universe, Earth-61615, was brought back from its own destruction by Mister Fantastic and the help of the Molecule Man and the Beyonder, the Beyonder transported Ben, his sister, and his friends into it, doing so in such a way it was as if they had always lived their entire life there. Some of the inhabitants from Earth-61616, including the Next Avengers, were one of the very people brought to Earth-61615. There, they began a new life, and a new journey, as the heroes of tomorrow.

Welcomed to Earth-61615

Resurfacing on this new reality, the Next Avengers, and most of the displaced inhabitants from other realities, weren't even aware that they were in fact, foreigners to this new world. Unbeknownst to them, all of their real names in this reality have been changed, but not that far off to their original names, and some of origin and history has been slightly-altered, in order to avoid continuity complications, according to the Beyonder.

Despite their old teammate and friend, Ben, who was one of the only few individuals who were aware of these changes since he was the one who was indirectly and unexpectedly responsible for making this all possible, they never had the time to meet with their old friend once again, not until later. From the time being, the Next Avengers have been very busy with lives, balancing both their heroic careers and their real, normal lives.

Facing their "Parents"

At some point during their heroic journey, the team manages to confront and cooperatively take down the Iron Avengers, a group of robots resembling the young heroes' parents, which were built by the criminal inventor Tinkerer and international terrorist Whiplash. After seeing them defeat the robots by their teamwork, the two attempted to escape getting apprehended and getting captured by the young heroes. After a brief battle with the youngsters, the two had the youngsters distract themselves by letting the young heroes battle their holograms, and almost made their chance upon escaping the scene.

Not until the young heroes had realized they fell for a trap, the Earth's Mightiest Heroes, the Avengers, together with the assistance of a few members from the Young Avengers, had arrived at the scene, to confront the ensuing skirmish, ending it with both the two villains getting apprehended, as well as the Next Avengers, so they can be put into questioning by S.H.I.E.L.D. at the Triskelion, for answers. Even with the effects of the Beyonder's reality-altering powers after the events Secret Wars, the modern heroes still haven't recognize these foreigners since they've never met before, believing the youngsters were just "wannabe-heroes," young impostors who have recently got their powers through illegal process.

Revelations

As usual, the young heroes denied all these allegations against them by the older heroes, and in their defense, they swore to them that they were really the Next Avengers, and told them that they have gotten their powers ever since they were born. The Avengers, specifically Hawkeye, then asked if their parents were superhumans as well, or have they received their powers through other methods, such as Terrigenesis or Mutation, however, neither of the young heroes knew where their powers came from, since in this reality, some of them were mostly orphans who were raised by ordinary families (but were also similar to their lives back in their home reality), except for Earth-61616's Katie Bishop, whose history was altered by becoming the younger sister of this reality's Kate Bishop.

Not easily convinced by their implications, one member of the Young Avengers, Wiccan, sensed something eerie and mysterious about these young heroes, believing that they might've been lying. As a result of his suspicion, Wiccan used his reality warping powers to read all their minds, and finally find out who they really were. Using his magical powers, he manages to trace all of their true origins, starting from their lives before Secret Wars, living on their home reality, Earth-61616, as the self-proclaimed, Next Avengers, the children of the first generation's Avengers.

Upon these surprising revelation, both the young heroes and their parent's counterparts had a moment of awkward silence, figuring out what was actually happening, after finding out those young heroes they mistakenly took as illegal superhumans or secretly supervillains, were actually real heroes, who were far far away into the future. Realizing that they were able to have the opportunity to see their supposedly-future children from an alternate reality, the members of the Avengers who were counterparts to the young heroes' parents immediately embraced their children from the alternate reality, before they had a heart-to-heart talk with each other.

However, it was eventually interrupted after the terrorist organization Liberators have infiltrated the Triskelion in order to rescue their recently imprisoned leader, Whiplash. With the Avengers realizing they have all the help that they needed to take the villains down, the Avengers allied themselves with the Young Avengers and of course, the Next Avengers into defeating and apprehending the Liberators, which they were victorious in the end. In conclusion to all those events, the Avengers and S.H.I.E.L.D. gladly granted the Next Avengers into helping and protecting this new reality from every minor and major threats, not even a single hero or even a team couldn't handle. From that point on forward, they are and will always be the Next Avengers, the Heroes of Tomorrow.
