Wolverine

Early Years

Born in Canada sometime in the early 1830s, the mutant powers of one James "Logan" Howlett had first manifested when he was thirteen years old, experiencing a state of feral, uncontrollable rage as the boy witnessed his father's accidental death at the hands of Thomas Logan, their neighbor who was supposedly having an affair with James' mother for a while. Grief-stricken, James impaled Thomas with his newly sprung bone claws, but in their last moments, Thomas revealed that he was James' biological father.

Journey with Victor Creed

Distraught by what he has done, Logan found solace and aid with his closest childhood friend and his father's adoptive son, Victor Creed, as the two spent the next several decades operating as soldiers in major wars in North America. They fought together for the forces of the Union in the American Civil War, and with the Allied Forces in both World War I and World War II, wherein Logan fought alongside the Howling Commandos and the heroic Captain America in the European theatre, and finally the pair's final fight for the United States Army was during the Vietnam War. However, during the middle of the Vietnam War, Victor was caught attempting to rape a native Vietnamese woman, and Logan's act to stop Victor yet defend him from the retaliation of their fellow comrades led to both of them being apprehended, eventually sentenced to death after the attack resulted in the decapitation of a senior officer. The brothers were shot by a firing squad but they didn't die, thanks to their healing factors which proved how hard it was to kill them.

Recruited by the Squadron X

After surviving the firing squad, they were recruited by Major William Stryker to join the black ops group Squadron X, consisting of Logan himself, Victor, John Wraith, Fred Dukes, David North, Chris Bradley and Louis Carosella. During a mission in Africa, James left the team after realizing how willing the other members were to kill innocent people to achieve their goals and complete their mission, especially Victor, who had developed something of a blood lust personality. Due to unknown reasons, the Squadron X were finally disbanded by Stryker's orders, only a few months after Logan left the team to his own dismay to realize what antics the team has been ordering him to do all those times.

(Trying to) Live a Normal Life

He returned to Canada six years later, eventually settling down into a quiet life as a lumberjack with a school-teacher named Kayla Silverfox, who was also a mutant. James, now going by the name of his real father, Logan, was lured back to Stryker after the apparently rogue Victor had apparently killed Kayla. This eventually lead into a fight in which Wolverine had almost won, almost killing Victor before he were knocked out and were captured and were taken by Stryker's men, alongside Kayla's body. Victor manages to wake up and escaped capture from Stryker's men, and fled into the forest. He has not been found or seen since until he eventually encounters Logan once again years later, during his X-Men days.

The Weapon X Program

Logan was held by the US Army at Alkali Lake to be experimented upon under the classified program known as the Weapon X Program. Stryker who was now a Colonel, oversaw the several experiments done to them under the madman scientist Abraham Cornelius, who is working for the Canadian government assisting them in their attempts to create their own version of the Super-Soldier Serum, using Wolverine and other powerful mutants' blood. They coated his bone claws with Adamantium and wiped up his past memories. He then later met a fellow mutant named Cain Marko, who would later become the Brotherhood member known as the Juggernaut.

Escape from Captivity

A couple days after his experimentation, Logan and several mutant inmates of the Weapon X Program was set free from his cell at Alkali Lake by a few mutant teenagers, one of whom revealed to Logan a few fragments of his past via telepathy. Logan escaped the compound having to slaughter every single guard who tried to neutralize or even just subdue him, and ran off into the snowy forest, where he started his new life, still struggling to remember his bloody and traumatic past. The following weeks since he escaped captivity, Logan had found a family of wolves in the wilderness and began running with their pack.

By suppressing the man beneath the instincts of the animal, Logan found a manner of peace for himself, as he starts to move on from his past in this new life that he has now been relishing. Unfortunately, it didn't last too long. Eventually, the arrival of a large white bear, which recently came from the far north, could not adapt to its environment, but its strength and raw power was enough to overcome Logan's pack while he was away, killing and eating the wolves. When he returned to his pack's cave, Logan and the bear mortally wounded each other in a brutal struggle, but only one had a healing factor. Logan survived the slaughter, but he immediately realized, that he was still alone, all over again.

The Brotherhood

Despite his feral-like instincts, the wolverine-minded hunter Logan would progressively start remembering his normal intelligence and day to day lifestyle, to which he tends visit bars that he often finds both in the middle and outside of the woods, heavily drinking in an attempt to remember his past, along with smoking cigars at a night-to-night basis. Later on, Logan somehow took a ship to Japan wherein he tried to start a new life, wherein he met and got romantically involved with a woman named Mariko Yashida (whom he unknowingly conceived a child with), only to leave her after almost two years due finding out that her family was part of the notorious and criminally-powerful Clan Yashida, which also developed a strong seed of hatred towards the regenerative mutant for involving himself with one of their own family. At some point upon returning to North America, a lonely Wolverine was found at the woods by a mysterious shapeshifting woman, who subsequently tricked Logan into being captured by her fellow accomplices, and was slowly and painfully tortured by the rogue mutants, until he was finally brainwashed to join Magneto's notorious Brotherhood of Mutants, and eventually became one of Magneto's most elite assassins, right under his inescapable coercion.

Joining the X-Men

Wolverine Without Mask 61615

Eighteen months later, Logan was assigned to infiltrate the X-Men and assassinate Professor Charles Xavier. He was accepted into their ranks, and quickly seduced Jean Grey, (whom she had forgot to recognize since their last encounter years ago, but remembers him at some point later on) in order to further entrench himself within the team. Wolverine finally attempted to kill Xavier and attacked the team until Jean Grey read his mind, let him remember some fragments of his past once again and finally got rid of his coercion under Magneto once and for all. Wolverine eventually betrayed Magneto after his coercion was gone, abandoning his initial mission as a member of the Brotherhood and truly joined the X-Men after coming to understand and believe in Xavier's heroic cause.

As an X-Man, Logan remained as a well-respected, and sometimes even a beloved member of the team for quite some time, but a on-and-off rivalry grew between him and Cyclops, one of the reasons being that he had fallen for Scott's girlfriend, telekinetic telepath Jean Grey, who soon rejoined the group. Despite having several years of hard-earned cynicism and at first skeptical of Xavier's hope for mutantkind and humankind's peaceful coexistence, Wolverine began to respect his ideals, determination and goals, and eventually grew to be a loyal and a more trusted member of the X-Men. Wolverine also developed a strong friendship with a few of his teammates, especially to Rogue, whom he had a somewhat father-daughter relationship with, after knowing that they both had a previously traumatizing experience from the hands of Magneto and the Brotherhood.

Ultimate War

The infamous and notorious villain of the X-Men known as Mister Sinister would intentionally led most of Magneto's loyalists into causing wreak and destruction on the city of Novi Grad, in Sokovia, without having any orders from Magneto, which immediately has gotten the attention of the X-Men. Little did the know, this strategy was one of the first known steps of Essex's plan as he would later unleash a larger event along with some the Earth's most powerful and villainous leaders, leading the Great Superhuman Movement.

After arriving at the scene, the X-Men somehow found Magneto standing on top of the ruins of the city, where they confronted him as they destruction continues to recommence. They argued against him, asking him why would he attack a city full of innocent people when they had done nothing wrong to them at all. Magneto strongly and angrily disagreed, implying that the very people of this city have said and have done enough to offend mutantkind for a very long time since then. According to him, Sokovia was the perfect city of how much humanity have been treating mutants like they don't belong in their society.

Having no other way to confront them in a more civilized manner, the X-Men had no choice but to apprehend the Brotherhood through force, as usual. As they face off, both the X-Men and the Brotherhood battle it out to prevent further destruction on the city. After a difficult and rough battle, the X-Men still won victoriously, apprehending several members of the Brotherhood with the exception of the man they thought was Magneto and the rest of his loyalists, who managed to escape their way back to Genosha, where they would later find another Magneto, the real one, who looked very furious at them for being so reckless on attacking the city without his orders.

Loss of a Loved One

After receiving Jean's telepathic cries to Professor Xavier, due to her pregnancy labor, the team immediately returned to the mansion, only to see her heavily mourn at the death of her and Scott's supposedly newborn child, Nathan, if it wasn't for (a clone of) Essex. Angered by the madman's sinister doings, the Professor and Logan decided to confront Magneto in his kingdom in Genosha, for holding the great responsibility of his organization's wrongdoings, especially for having one of his lieutenants, Essex, infiltrate the mansion just so he could assassinate the innocent unborn baby of Jean Grey, though all of this were later to be proven wrong, as Magneto had nothing to do with any of Essex's schemes with the Movement Alliance. As the five were on their way to the Citadel, the Brotherhood's hideout in Genosha, using the X-Men's Blackbird, only to be dragged by Magneto and some of his, who were hiding out across the rain forest landscape of the island.

At first, Logan was filled with fury and anger at Magneto and his mutant society, having the intent to mercilessly kill every single member of the Brotherhood that he encountered, wanting to have his vengeance after what Sinister has done to Jean and Scott's child. However, upon discovering Essex's ultimate betrayal against Magneto and his Brotherhood at the peak of the Movement's emergence, the X-Men eventually had no other choice but to have an alliance of their own by allying themselves with the remainder of Magneto's faction, where they would later join the ranks of Earth's other mightiest heroic forces to reform the Ultimates and stop the Movement Alliance from fully completing their goals on absolute world domination, once and for all.

Battle of Genosha

The rest of the X-Men later traveled to the deep forests of Genosha, meeting up with the four, Magneto and his Brotherhood, where they would briefly discussed their plan on how to deal with Essex and end his faction. Only not long after, Sinister arrived on the Citadel to find Logan waiting for him. The rest of the heroic mutants, who were supposed to use the element of surprise to surround and attack Sinister from the shadows, miserably failed to execute their plan, after Logan's attempt on stalling Essex was foiled by the villain, telling him that he knows mostly everything about his lost past, to which Logan, attacked and tried to threateningly question him to never remind him about his past ever again.

Logan brutally strangled Essex, with him suddenly changing his mind and started to interrogate the villain what else does he know about his past, seeing this as a last second opportunity to know it. Essex was flattered at first, having impressed by the strength of Wolverine, and was ready to tell him all what he know, starting by intentionally calling Logan by his real name, "James," along with Essex taunting Logan to remember the "military compound." Unfortunately, this unthinkable action of Logan has only slowly driven Essex out of their trap and release his clones, ruining the first step of their plan and Logan's chance of rediscovering his past. Having no other choice but to attack before, a pressured and nervous Mystique signals the hiding Brotherhood unit to come out of the forest and charge at Sinister, despite Charles and Magneto's orders on telling her not to.

Due to Logan and Mystique's unintentional mistake, the allied battle against Essex has started. As the battle wore on, the mutant heroes desperately tried to attack as Sinister and his men counteracted their offense, although miraculously enough, they were able to have him restrained, all thanks to their coordinated cooperation in taking the villain down, right until Sinister had the last second chance to obtain Rogue's DNA after taking a sample of her blood her during the battle, giving him the powerful ability to absorb the powers of every single mutant that tried to attacked him in the battle, killing them in the process of also taking away their life-force, most notably Archangel and Pyro. Luckily enough, Logan was one of the the few survivors whose healing powers was strong enough to save him from Sinister's newly-acquired powers.

Final Vengeance

Logan Earth-61615

Distressed and distraught after realizing that he was the one who's at fault for the deaths of his at the hands of Essex, Logan contemplated himself, questioning his true purpose as an X-Man, whether he's actually trying to redeem himself to be a better man, or he was just keep on bringing the team nothing but despair and disappointment. Thankfully, due to the convincing motivation of Cyclops and Rogue by the last second has given the mutant team a glimpse of hope, proving that none of its casualties has died in vain, and lastly, they could still defeat the evil schemes of Essex and conclusively end the Ultimate War, for sake of the greater good.

During the third and final battle on the Citadel, the joint mutant forces has Sinister inescapably surrounded, but not before using Rogue as somewhat of a bait, where she pretended to stall the villain, before Sinister himself realized that Rogue was the key into defeating him. After absorbing one of the powers from Essex's clones, Rogue started decimating most of his clones, signaling the others to help her deal with the clones while the other half attack the real Sinister. During the final battle, Logan had suddenly thought of all the unforgivable sins Essex has done towards him and the team, unleashing his uncontrollable power known as the "berserker rage," easily slaughtering every single clones tried to stop him, but miserably failed, before helping the others deal with Sinister himself. During the fight, Logan even has the rogue Brotherhood Hard-Drive accidentally killed, albeit his intention was to apprehend him without harm, all due to his berserker rage of shredding the villain into pieces, proving of how much more powerful Logan could potentially be, through the development of time.

In the end, Sinister was ultimately defeated and was apparently killed at the hands of the X-Men and the Brotherhood of Mutants, after he was fully disintegrated into ashes by the latter, finally foiling Sinister's non-ending assault in Northern and Western Asia, some parts of the European continent, and Australia, followed by several victories done by the rest of the Ultimates all around the world, starting from the Avengers to the X-Men, that conclusively won the short-lived but devastating war from the schemes of the villainous Movement Alliance.

Confronting the Past

Only two days after the events of Ultimate War, Logan has decided to leave the X-Men temporarily, deciding to take a break from all the pressure and the depression that he somehow developed as an X-Men and find out more answers regarding his past, all by himself, the past he once tried to desperately forget for several years. Revisiting the ruins of the overly-damaged Citadel in Genosha, Logan persistently investigated the whole recently-abandoned kingdom, until he surprisingly discovered Sinister's secret lair located below the underground dungeon of the island.

Trying to find for more convenient answers, Logan unknowingly encountered several booby traps previously settled by Essex before his untimely death, albeit not every single one of them was able to penetrate through Logan's overpowered healing factor, but only slowed him down, barely, right until he reached the former main laboratory of the villain. Inside, Logan finds an old but functioning mainframe computer, to which he was able to use it in order to find out more clues regarding the old military facility he had kept on remembering on his head, right after Essex had reminded him of the specific place. Logan he found a folder named the "X-BASE," containing the files of the previous Weapon X experiments, which included Logan's information as the powerful and the closest example into being the Weapon X, along of where the location of his first experimentation was found, revealing to be the same military compound Essex tells him to remember, which was said to be located at Alkali Lake, in Canada.

Now arriving at Alkali Lake, in Canada, Wolverine was walking in the heavy snow after his motorcycle was unable to cross the rocky tundra landscape. He sees the military compound that Sinister's computer has given him. In the gate, he sees a white wolf that he easily scared. He entered the compound, but finds that nothing is left, but the walls that once surrounded the structure. It is now abandoned and demolished, much to his disappointment. However, Logan's hope was not entirely been obstructed, and just as when Logan was about to leave the area, Logan has unexpectedly stepped on an old land mine located right in front of a wall, which was revealed to be a larger trap, leading him to fall down, below the dark abyss.

Ghosts from the Past

Waking up in the dark basement, Wolverine used his superhuman night vision and walks down a mysterious stairway, finding the room of his nightmares, what seems to be a laboratory room. In the middle of the room, there a green tube of liquid of some sort. On the rooms, x-ray pictures of skulls and claws are hanged. Logan sees another flash from his past times in this room, of himself lying in the tube. He keeps looking around and finds a small bathtub-like pool of liquid adamantium. Wolverine then came across the part of the laboratory where he saw his claws' scratch marks on the walls. By the last moment, he started remembering what happened to him and how he was tortured and experimented upon with the adamantium element.

William Stryker arrived and cleared Wolverine's doubts, revealing that he had created the "animal within Wolverine." Stryker introduced another mutant with an adamantium skeleton and claws, Lady Deathstrike, who then attacked Wolverine as an act of keeping him away from Stryker, just as he was about to leave the abandoned facility. The fight lasted for about a short while, right until Logan was too furious and confused at the same time remembering his past, holding Yuriko's head and hitting her straight into a brick wall, unexpectedly getting rid of Stryker's mind control, along with knocking her down completely. Logan was into finding where Stryker actually went, albeit he was gunned down by Stryker's armed men, who took both him and Yuriko's knocked out bodies afterwards, dragging them into an unknown location inside the abandoned facility.

History Repeating Itself

In the aftermath of his defeat against the claw-powered mutant, he awakens inside the newly-established Weapon X complex inside the compound, which was under the experimentation by his "old friend," Dr. Abraham Cornelius, along with a fully unconscious Deathstrike behind him, who was also tightly-restrained in another stretcher. Cornelius fully explained Yuriko's backstory to Logan, a Japanese claw-powered mutant (similar to Logan, although her claws were manipulated in her fingernails, rather than from her knuckles) who were sadly shunned from her family and country all due to her condition, where after migrating in the Great White North for her own good, where she eventually met Cornelius at a bar, who has offered to completely erase her mutation from her genes and give her a chance to and live her life as a normal person, though this was not the scientist's deal for her entirely.

Cornelius had the help of Stryker to put her in a state of coercion as he continuously worked on her mutation as a part of the secretly-running Weapon X Program, explaining on how she (unwillingly) became both their most elite assassin and bodyguard for a few several years, without Yuriko even feeling and realizing her painless but somewhat tormenting torture of a lifetime. After comparing her coincidentally similar story to his' origin, Logan was even more furious and acted more violent towards both Cornelius and Stryker for ruining a lot of innocent mutant lives, all because of their ruinous and life-threatening experiments of the Weapon X, and terrifying vowed to slowly and painfully kill Cornelius for what he did to him until he cries and bleed out to death, once he would be able to get off his current restraints.

Completely Moving On

Cornelius then collected some of Wolverine and Lady Deathstrike's DNA in an attempt to create an improved, better clone of the mutant as he combined both essence, but was only able to create deformed rejects that he released to wander off across the hallways of the compound, to try and keep Logan from ever escaping, if he ever gets out of the lab. To test the DNA, Cornelius grafted the DNA to himself, horribly mutating his body and driving him insane. After releasing Lady Deathstrike from captivity and quickly convincing her that the Weapon X's promises were been nothing but a big lie and was only using her for her mutant powers, the two had no other choice but to team up as they face Cornelius' abominations and kill the creatures out of their painful miseries. Wolverine and Deathstrike has then confronted Cornelius in his secret laboratory where after much effort, both the mutants has managed to kill Cornelius, as they have finally decapitated the recently disfigured madman who once had playfully tormentingly experimented with them that consequently scarred him once and ruined his entire life, forever.

After the destruction of his base as it slowly continuously burns down into the ground, all done by Lady Deathstrike, Stryker tried to flee using his helicopter but was caught and ultimately destroyed by an enraged Logan. Logan brutally impaled Stryker with his own adamantium claws, telling his last words to a dying Stryker that he has finally completed his act of vengeance against to those who were held responsible in ruining his life in the process, by only trying to make their self-motivated accomplishments be better. In his dying breath, Stryker was surprised to see Logan in disbelief, mounting the words that he has nothing to say but be proud to killed by the great monster that he was responsible in creating, distressing Logan, even at the pinnacle of achieving his vengeance. Stryker died from shock and blood loss, along with his death, the legacy of the Weapon X Program has finally ended for good.

Sitting at the helipad beside the wrecked helicopter and the bled out corpse of Stryker, Logan contemplated himself and suddenly realized that the only thing that's been dragging him down this whole time, was trying to remembering his past, despite discerning the fact that it is all in the past now, and recognizing all of it will bring nothing but burden in Logan's life, instead of having to fulfill it. Logan then only, has finally moved on from the ghosts of his past, one last time, before leaving his monstrous past behind as nothing but a savage beast, proving Stryker to be wrong eventually, thus starting a new one, beginning the first chapter in the story of his redemption.

Not long after the assault on the Alkali Lake had been a success, to the city of New York with his new companion, Deathstrike, as they ride his motorcycle, eventually arriving outside the X-Mansion. While still recovering from the attempted assault of the Shadow King and his nightmares through the usage of the addictive Banshee drug, Lady Deathstrike would only be introduced by Logan to the Professor later on, with the rest of the X-Mansion's residents welcoming her inside the mutant haven settlement, but not before they had seen on the television, that there has been currently a much larger issue, even larger than Logan's past, that they all have to deal with. Nevertheless of this legal issue, the X-Men still had the time to embark on a mission in pursuit of finding and rescuing new mutants who were locked Ravencroft Institute from the nightmares of the Demon Bear.

Heroic Adventures

The Civil War

Upon moving on from his traumatic and tormenting past in the Weapon X Program, Logan had fully dedicated himself into serving with his fellow X-Men in the pursuit of protecting and defending his fellow mutants both across the country and across the world as the ferally ferocious yet fervently focused Wolverine. Meanwhile, he and the X-Men were also involved with international affairs when the state of heroism became a global matter of debate and controversy which unavoidably sparked the superhuman civil war, an event that made stand their ground for mutants through speaking out their opposition against the Superhuman Registration Act, comparing the restrictions of towards the rights of superhumans to the continuous discrimination of mutants across several states across the country.

Due to the public controversy made by the X-Men toward the government, Logan and a few of his selected teammates secretly helped Captain America's Anti-Registration forces in investigating and finding the missing perpetuator behind Ultimate War. Despite their mishaps against the authorities, Logan and his allies were able to bide Captain America enough time to confront and apprehend the mastermind, Baron Zemo. Fortunate for the X-Men, their awaited arrest was pardoned due to both the Department of Mutant Affairs' compromise agreement (which was made possible by Beast being its secretary) and the general public's demand, sentencing each of them to electronic tagging, limiting their distance within Westchester County for the next two and a half years, instead of serving a lengthy sentence at a supermax prison (e.g. The Raft).

Secret Progeny

However, this alternative to a life sentence wasn't the end for Logan's terms, as he was soon approached by S.H.I.E.L.D., claiming to have discovered the fact that he has a daughter, a female genetic twin created by Alkali Genetics in the year 2000, under William Stryker's orders. While Logan was impulsively intrigued by his news, he immediately sensed that there would be a catch to this information, and there was indeed. In exchange of helping him locate his daughter's whereabouts, Logan had to temporarily help S.H.I.E.L.D. in hunting and dealing in covert missions; a clean up in Logan's own words. Logan agreed, willing to do whatever it takes to uncover the seeds of his still clouded past which have now sprouted in the present.

In the following months, Wolverine became a stealth operative of S.H.I.E.L.D., leading his own team of agents against unethical geneticists who either tried selling and weaponizing samples of various mutant DNAs across the country, in which he and his team had done the only thing necessary, doing what he was best at. Nearing the very end of his deal, Wolverine was able to personally locate his now early adolescent daughter, named Laura, who was living on the streets of New York as a prostitute turned hitwoman for the New York Maggia. Much to Logan's dismay and innermost concern, he tried his best to talk some sense into her lost daughter. Although the latter was proven to be agile and aggressive at first as the two fought in a bloody fashion, Laura's realization that her scent strikingly matches Logan's suddenly overwhelmed her emotions to the point that she tearfully tried to take her own life at the spot due to the deaths she has caused, directly or not.

Knowing he wanted his daughter not to enter the same process of suffering he has gone through his whole life, Logan prevented and willingly handed his help to her, redeeming and introducing himself in her life as he planned to put her under Professor X's care and try to let her grow into a slightly brighter path. Their meeting was abruptly interrupted by S.H.I.E.L.D. themselves led by Deputy Director Maria Hill, who sorrowfully revealed their true intentions of taking the young mutant under their wings, and into their training program. In the midst of betrayal, Logan wanted to express his rage against the agency for their deception, but seeing the situation he and his X-Men were standing in, he had to make a less riskier choice. He reluctantly handed Laura under S.H.I.E.L.D.'s custody in the meantime, not but before promising to his daughter that he would be finding a way to get to her, in middle of this legal mess that he has to deal with. Before leaving, Logan swore to Hill and the agency with an ominous warning that he would not hesitate to slash and slash his way through them, if they do or let anything cruel happen to her.

Battles for Earth

Despite having to make the painful choice to hand his own daughter to people he couldn't trust at the meantime, Logan has managed to keep his watch over Laura, and thankfully he was able to gain the access to frequently visit and meet with her at her S.H.I.E.L.D. facility at least four days in every month, thanks to Beast and the Department of Mutant Affairs' legal intervention of convincing the United Nations grant their settlement, bypassing the Registration Act in the process. In doing so, Logan was able to teach, teach, and train Laura as a trainee of S.H.I.E.L.D., though there were times that he had to help her expose into the real world, notably the times when the world's fate is in peril. During the Secret Invasion initiated by the extraterrestrial Skrull Empire.

In response, the Ultimates, S.H.I.E.L.D., and most of the Earth's super-powered individuals have united to stop the conquering villainous imperium, aided by the Guardians of the Galaxy and the entire Ravager Network. During the end of the fighting, a seemingly reformed Norman Osborn killed the Skrull Queen, which ended the war and the attempted invasion, once and for all. The legislative bill, Superhuman Registration Act, remained implemented right until the aftermath of the invasion, where both leaders of both sides, Captain America and Iron Man, demanded the United Nations to finally abolish the act, after both sides reunited into saving the Earth from the Skrulls, ultimately ending the superhuman civil war, once and for all.

With the registration finally uplifted, the ripple effect had eventually given Logan and Laura the chance to reunite beyond any restrictions, finally welcoming the latter into sanctuary, the X-Mansion. While Logan thought all was well having Laura within his second family's care and nurture, little did he know at first that he would later unveil another from his past, in which he would end up meeting the assassin named Daken, who never hesitated on grasping the opportunity to enact his personal vengeance against him, blaming him for leaving her mother who was Logan's former lover Mariko Yashida, for dead during a civil war that sparked in Clan Yashida, when Daken was still very young. On that moment, Logan also learned of his first progeny other than Laura, but in the process their first meeting had already created a rift and somewhat of a rivalry between the two when Daken took a darker mantle of the Wolverine during Osborn's Dark Reign. Despite this divergence, this rift was still something that Logan subtly prioritizes on fixing for the following years that came by trying to be the best father he could be for his complicated children.

Nevertheless of his personal issues, it never stopped Logan from knowing his duties and responsibilities as a bloody hero, especially when he was present during the heroes and villains of Earth's encounter with Thanos in his cosmic quest for the Infinity Stones to achieve universal stability. While the heroic forces, which included the X-Men, on Wakanda was successful in killing Thanos' minions, Thanos personally arrived and overpowered the heroes on Wakanda with ease, including Wolverine, subsequently completing Infinity Gauntlet with Vision's Mind Stone. Thanos still managed to eradicate half the universe's population with his cosmic snap, triumphing over the defenders of the universe.

Logan was one of the random survivors, though some of his teammates weren't too fortunate. However, the alliance of the surviving coalition battled Thanos. In the process, he overlooked his adoptive daughter Nebula who was able to wrest the Infinity Gauntlet from Thanos' hand, and undo all that has occurred, which inadvertently freed the heroes and the cosmic entities and resurrected most of those who have once withered away by the Mad Titan's snap of changing reality. The battle resumed, and in the end it was Adam Warlock who finally possessed the Gauntlet, ending the cosmic conflict for the Infinity Gauntlet, for now. Logan lost his left hand during a his short-lived duel with Thanos, to which he didn't bother as his efforts had helped his fellow X-Men and mutant allies, including his son Daken, back to reality.

With the defeat and death of the time-travelling Stryfe at the hands of the X-Force, their success had seemingly vanquished his reality-altering plan to reawaken this reality's "Apocalypse," but little did they were aware of, another global threat was also emerging from the darkness, in the form of a reborn Mister Sinister; his new scheme in balancing all life on the planet, including the likes of Mutants, Inhumans, Atlanteans along with many more species, through his new series of protocols of causing a global extinction event such as releasing a deadly strain of virus among other methods that are just as fatal, although the latter was eventually stopped by the heroic forces primarily consisting the X-Men, the Brotherhood, S.H.I.E.L.D., and several more mutant-supporting groups and organizations across the globe.

Ensuring the tides would be turned in the favor of the persevere heroes, a dying Apocalypse had formed his final incarnation of the Four Horsemen: Grim Reaper as Death, Logan as the Horseman of War, Rogue as Famine, and Polaris as Conquest, in hopes of redeeming himself and his extreme measures of preserving the future of mutantkind for the past millennia. While the heroes were victorious against Sinister's schemes to balance the biosphere, the devastation of the skirmish costed them a few yet significant casualties among their closest allies in exchange of saving more innocent lives from the brink of death or far worse, the extinction of all life.

No More Suffering

Throughout the climax of the final war against Mister Sinister and his extremist mutate armada, Logan and his fellow Horsemen, along with his some of teammates were designated to infiltrated Sinister's primary base of operations in the heart of England. The Horsemen battled both Sinister and his clones with fury, paving waves of destruction in every path they crossed and stomped on, all in the name of peace and survival. Unfortunate for them, the real Sinister was exquisitely overpowered since his true body has gained a staggering amount of new superpowers ands abilities. In a matter of dozen deadly strikes delivered by Sinister that no ordinary human nor mutant could survive, only the Horsemen remains alive.

Out of the four, only Logan was standing still, albeit he was barely breathing, or moving faster than he usually was. Without realizing it, Sinister had been unnoticedly pumping in doses of liquid adamantium onto his body every moment Sinister slashes him and his regeneration could only take into his system, thus failing to stop it. While Logan was immune even to the Legacy Virus, he knew that adamantium was a different thing. All his life, the metallic alloy had served both as a benefit for him in combat, and ironically, it was also a heavy burden that he had to carry on his whole life as a mutant. Despite slowly suffocating by the adamantium coating within his body, Logan's unbearable thought of losing more of his friends, family, and allies suddenly unleashed his inner beast one last time. Influenced by his strong and empowering emotions of rage and fervor, Wolverine could no longer take any other losses in his life, be it because of him or something that he failed to stop in time, and painfully suffer because of his failure.

Knowing how severely weakened Sinister now was due to the fatal efforts given by his fallen ally Monarch, Wolverine faced the real Nathaniel Essex with his last breath in his unstoppable berserker state, slashing and dashing his molten hot claws through the weakened Sinister over and over again until both of them could have any living cell in their body left to regenerate, while Logan slowly succumbs as the adamantium inside every part of his body hardens. Despite knowing his fate was sealed with suffocation, Logan's final thoughts reveal that he had never felt better, having his loved ones by side while they worry and mourn for him, as he let go of this life he has gone through for approximately two hundred years.

An Undying Legacy

In his life of unceasing guilt, pain, and suffering, Wolverine progressive relieved himself from it through his life as an X-Man, and with it, he was able to live seeing the positive aspects of reality. He died in the late 2020s due to his selfless sacrifice, which finally granted him to finally found peace and rest from his centuries of living with adversity now that he has ensured the survival of his people, his "tribe" and family. In spite of Logan's passing, however, a preserved sample containing his regenerative and immunity essence, which he once willingly gave to S.H.I.E.L.D. a few years back, was a crucial element for the agency's science division led by Curt Connors to fully synthesize an antidote and develop an effective cure and vaccine for the Legacy Virus that would save billions of lives worldwide, unfortunately at the cost of Connors' life as he'd succumbed to the deadly virus.

His friend and teammate Kitty Pryde tried to phase him out of the coating, but couldn't do so after discovering most of his cells have transmuted into adamantium rather than simply coating it, practically making Logan's body a statue. Still, Kitty was able to stabilize Logan's hardened molecules into a more normal state. Logan's body was then buried in Canada in an undisclosed location, wherein his funeral was held by his few closest of teammates, family, respectable rivals, former enemies, and allies, among them where his children Laura and even Daken, who all grieved and honored him, realizing that they would always dearly remember the Wolverine as one of the bravest, fiercest, and honest heroes the world has ever seen, whilst fondly remembering Logan in his best qualities: a teacher, a mentor, a friend, a lover, a father, an Avenger, and an X-Man.

Trivia

  • Logan was revealed to be almost over one hundred and ninety years old.
  • Wolverine lost his left hand along with its ability to regenerate in a bloody fight with Thanos (using the completed Infinity Gauntlet) during the Infinity War, in retaliation for Logan slashing a painful scar to the Titan's face with his adamantium claws, though Thanos later used the Gauntlet to transfer the scar onto his back as a twisted form of "souvenir", indicating his respect for Logan's fierceness and ferocity.
    • However, his left hand's regenerative abilities later returned when he was transformed by a dying Apocalypse into the Horseman of War during the X-t(In)ction Event.
  • Throughout most of his life, Logan doesn't believe in traditional religions and was often skeptic and pessimistic when talking about its many concepts, although he claimed to have prayed often during his times fighting in wars.
    • In the present, however, his enlightening experience of living with the X-Men has made him be a little bit more open and his and philosophy become a little more flux, even in the idea of an afterlife, whose existence is something that he strongly denied in his earlier, bloodier years.
